Online Productivity!
I really like online productivity. No longer will I be a slave to Microsoft office! We won't have to buy the package anymore! We won't have to use the same computer or email our documents back and forth just to get lost at some random pit stop along the information superhighway!
I searched through some wikis today, but it seemed a little complicated to search for random ones. I think I would prefer to create one to share with my classmates that I am working on a group project with instead! We have had to coordinate through email and it has been difficult, because one person gets left out of a detail here and there and before you know it, no one really knows what is going on!
I think wikis could be useful in libraries for the Summer Reading Club. It would be fun for a group of friends to all see what each other is reading and give recommendations to each other if they wanted to start a junior book club!

Library 2.0
Library 2.0 seems pretty cool, as long as it doesn't push real libraries to the wayside! There is nothing like the experience of walking into a public library and having your fingers itch to search through each collection to see what new adventure you can have that day! Imagine your first trip to Main library, were you a child? If not watch a young child when they come in the door and try to remember the magic and wonder that a real library brings them. Also, who doesn't love the comfort of the warm, comfy library on a cold day with nothing to do. You can sit in a cozy chair and skim through a stack of books all afternoon.
Our children and grandchildren and generations after deserve the magic and mystery that are only found within the walls of a public library!

So Delicious!
Okay, today I played around with del.icio.us and found out what it was all about. I really think it is a cool idea, being a student I have a ton of things bookmarked on my computer and now I have to scroll through a long list before I can find the one I'm looking for, I may as well just type in the url instead! With del.icio.us, I can just bookmark the one site, then let that site do the rest of the work! It is easy, and I can't wait to look up what my friends are into.

Youtube
OMG I freakin' love youtube. I have used it for a while now and it always makes me laugh. Here is one of my favorite videos!
So, I tried twitter today, and it was interesting, although I'm not sure that my life is interesting enough that it warrants constant public updates. It was interesting, however, to see what other people are doing. I found an interesting conversation about Halloween costumes, and I just LAAAAvvve Halloween, its my favorite holiday. I love dressing up in costumes, I usually am a fairy or goddess of some type!
I think libraries could use twitter by updating the community the day of an event or even moments before, just in case people would like to attend, but they may forget about it during their busy day. I'm not really sure how I could use twitter in my everyday life, but at least I will know what it is when my daughter figures out how to use it!

Library Thing
I just tried Library Thing and it was really easy and fun. I found each book I was looking for and I even got to see the cover to make sure they were the right books. I'm not sure how I can make this work to my advantage yet, I'll have to find out more about the site, but it seems like fun.
